Prague Tomorrow

An interactive exhibition on the future of rail transport

Prague Tomorrow? Connected City is an exhibition at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP), for which we created interactive content. Through large-scale animations and data models, we visualize the future of rail transport in the capital city.

We have developed a unique technology that allows visitors to explore data on a 24-meter-wide projection wall in real time using a controller. Thanks to this, they can discover what rail transport in Prague might look like in 2050.

The content is divided into nine thematic chapters connected by dynamic transitions featuring trains of the future traveling across the scene. The introductory part of the projection focuses on the current state of rail transport and the challenges it faces. Visitors have the opportunity to interactively explore key problems and proposed solutions that pave the way for a more modern and efficient transport network.

The following chapters transport us to the year 2050 and present a vision of an ideally functioning railway system. They progressively address the construction of high-speed rail lines in Europe and their impact on Prague’s railway hub. A key point is the Metro S project, a new underground line that will bring rail transport directly into the city center. The two planned tunnels will include new stations—such as Smíchov, Wenceslas Square, Charles Square, and Florenc. The modernization of the line to Kladno also plays a crucial role, as it currently cannot handle the daily rush of tens of thousands of commuters. The planned extension of this line to Václav Havel Airport will ensure a direct and rapid connection between the metropolis and the airport.

At the heart of the entire railway network remains the Main Railway Station

The project aims to become the largest transfer hub in the Czech Republic, handling over 150,000 passenger movements daily. Visitors can explore 3D model visualizations of the new ticket hall, tram stops, the connection to the upcoming Metro Line D, and the revitalized park in front of the station.

The exhibition emphasizes interactivity—visitors can use controllers to explore key data, visualizations, and models of planned projects. They also discover the limitations of current transport and learn about proposed solutions designed to transform the way people travel in Prague and its surroundings.

Controllers originally designed for virtual reality have been brought directly into the exhibition space. Their movements are reflected in real time in an interactive application created with the Unity game engine. Considering the size of the space, we pushed the interactivity of the projection to the limits of technical possibilities. The entire installation responds in real time to visitors’ input and allows activation of individual projects, including spatial sound that further enhances the experience.
