Views on disparity

Why is there a shortage of rental housing? The exhibition Houses and Apartments explores the reasons for the dismal state of the housing market in Prague as well as potential solutions.Together with the curators of the exhibition, we have created a video for
a wide-screen wall in the CAMP space, which best illustrates the issue on a real 1:1 scale.

How much does 1 m² of living space cost in Prague?

What are the smallest and largest sized apartments in Prague? The viewers see the corresponding area stacked by an adequate number of squares with a 1x1m aspect ratio. They can now experience the extreme disparities for the demands on living space.
For example, the smallest apartment occupies 8m² – an area as large as the oversized sofa situated in the exhibition space on which the viewers can watch the projection.

Zooming out, viewers get to see Prague from above where the current data on current construction shows the predominance of developer construction.

To rectify the situation in the housing market, the share of urban and cooperative construction needs to be increased. The projection showcases diagrams to identify and illustrate the patterns of these types
of development.
